Art Journal Page--Mission Inspiration March 2025

Hello my crafty friends. I hope you're having a great day. I'm working on catching up with my art journal pages for the Mission Inspiration Facebook group.

In all truth, I didn't use the theme or the suggested ideas this month, I used all the ingredients. And when I saw the ingredient list, the page came together in my head. I love it when that happens. The ingredients are: man, black and white photo, washi tape, green, and circles.

I started with a 5 1/2 x 8 inch piece of green pattern paper with polka dots on it. I added a layer of clear gesso to prepare the paper for other liquid mediums and inks.

After a quick dry with my heat tool, I added archival ink in Fern Green around the edges with a foam blending tool.

Then to add more circles I pulled out all of my circle punches. I have a bunch ranging from 2 inches to 1/4 inch. I punched two of each size from some scraps of dark green cardstock.

I wanted to have them go up one side of the page and kind of arc over, kind of like a balloon arch would. I arranged them on the left hand of the page and them realized that they ran right into the area my whole punch would line up.

So I just flipped the page over, and problem solved. I did re arrange a few of the smaller circles.

After I had them arranged, I used Glad Press and Seal to pick up the collage of circles all at one time. I flipped over the whole thing and gently took off the page.

Then I added liquid glue to the back of every circle. I picked up the press and seal and lined up the circle collage and added it back to the journal page. Using a bone folder I pressed the circles down, let them dry a little, and them removed the press and seal.

Then I added a little liquid matte medium over the circles to adhere them a little more and make them nonporous.

After they dried, I pulled out my green Pitt Pen and added some shadows around the circles. Then I added some black ink to the circles that overlapped.

Next, was to add my focal image. I used the two more ingredients, the man and black and white photo, and found a photo of a handsome young man, my grandpa. He was in his early twenties in this photo.

But grandpa can't hover, so I added the last ingredient, washi tape, to create a place for Grandpa to stand. I covered the photo with matte medium and dried it with my heat tool.

Then I used the Pitt pens to add shadow around the photo and washi tape.

In my stash I had some family stickers, but not one that said grandpa. So I cut apart the one that said grandparents and added it to the sticker that said dad. We didn't call him Granddad, but it works. I added a little matte medium to the stickers as well.

And that is the finished page.
