Hello my crafty friends. I hope you're having a great day. I'm back today with another card made using my spread sheet and a random number generator.
The brand chosen was Hero Arts, the product was layering stamps, the technique is fun fold, the color pallet is a color challenge, the theme is the closest holiday, and the extra is sequins.
The stamp set I chose is an older one that has a layered bird image.
I realized half way into the card that this was more of an interactive card than a fun fold, but it's folded different than usual, so it works, right. I wanted to revisit a pop up card idea created by Jennifer McGuire.
You can see it here on her blog:
The measurements are 6 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches of a very sturdy card stock. I'm using a 120lb from amazon that I bought for when I needed a good heavy cardstock. Putting the longest side across the top of my scoreboard, I added the score lines at 1/2 inch and 1 inch. Then you flip the cardstock over and score the other end the same way. Do this to both pieces that will become your card base.
Before I fold the paper, I am adding a cut out in the center of one piece with the mirrored arch label dies from Spellbinders.
You can buy them here:
Then used the next largest die from the same set to cut the center of a blue piece of cardstock that is 4 by 5 1/4 inches.
After I got the die cutting done, I folded the side of each of the card base pieces in a zig zag and put them off to the side.
For the color challenge, I went to MFT stamps and used one of their color challenges.
You can find their color challenges used here:
I didn't have those colors in MFT inks so I used similar colors from Simon Says Stamp.
I stamped the layers of the bird in the blues and purple from the color challenge. I added a brown for the legs, beak and eye.
Then I stamped the branch from the stamp set in the same brown and added the blooms in the pink form the challenge.
Once the stamping was finished, I fussy cut the bird and branch with a pair of fine tip scissors.
Now for the card assembly. I added a really strong adhesive to the outside fold one both ends of one of the card base pieces. Then I added some liquid glue for a little wiggle room. The glue has a strong hold, but the dry adhesive has a quicker hold.
Carefully, I lined up the edges of the top and the bottom piece on one side at a time to create the pop up card base.
Before I add the blue layer, I need to add the bird and branch. I think it would have been better to add the branch before I put the card base together, but decisions were made and now we're here. I added a little glue to the ends of the branch and placed them over the opening, then added the bird to the branch.
Next, I added the blue card layer to the top of the card base. Now, don't pay any attention to the fact that I put it on with the bottom side up, and that it makes the layer off center when you line up the die cut openings. I'm just going to pretend that is how I meant it to look.
The sentiment is from a Mother's Day set from Simon Says Stamp. I inked it up with white pigment ink and covered it with Brutus Monroe Alabaster white embossing powder.

The last step is to add the extra, the sequins. I added two groups, but added an odd number of sequins. Then both sides of my brain are satisfied.
Here is the finished card.
