What Happens When You Mentally Math Once and Then Have to Cut Twice

Hello my crafty friends. I'm back with a card that was created by the spread sheet and random number generator. That probably sounds weird if you didn't watch this video

https://youtu.be/dTycs5pGF3s

The general idea is that I created a spread sheet that listed all my stamp and die companies, card making techniques, color pallet, card theme, and extra card items. I then use a random number generator to choose one number from each column, and make a card.

The card today was a little harder of a combination than last week. I had to choose a second technique because the first random number combination wasn't possible. That lead me to add another column to my spread sheet. I added products and moved things like embossing folders, layering dies, stamps, and stencils, and hot foil plates, from techniques to products.

This weeks card used a Penny Black stamp, and embossing folder, pattern paper for the color combination, birthday for the theme, and bling for the added product. I used the Penny Black Potted Blooms. It's retired, but you might be able to find it used if you love it.

I chose a vine embossing folder to add something to the background panel of the card. It's one I bout at JoAnn forever ago, and the design isn't really important. Any embossed image would work.

I used an old Stampin Up paper for my color pallet, but didn't add it to the card. I was just to figure out what colors to use.

I colored the flowers with some Zig Clean Color Markers.

These are pullet tip not brush tip and they work differently than the brush pens. Mine were a Christmas gift, but they are available at Amazon with this link

My plan was to make this a landscape card because the stamp is wider than it is tall. Once I finished coloring the stamped image, I embossed a piece of green cardstock with the embossing folder and trimmed down the stamped and colored panel.

I'm so used to trimming them from 4 1/4 inches wide to 4 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall to 5 1/4 inches tall to create a US A2 portrait style card. And that's exactly what I did. Oops. It was supposed to be 5 1/4 inches wide.

So now I had to come up with plan B. And it came to me as I was staring at this completely odd sized card panel. You don't have to use the whole panel.

So I did a little math, and if you've watched any of my videos, you know that's not my favorite. But I was able to trim down the stamped and colored panel to make it fit a now portrait style card. The measurements aren't exactly what they should be, but it works.

After I figured out how to solve the bad mathing issue, I pulled a birthday sentiment from my stash and put the card together. I added the sentiment strip slightly off the image panel and added the "extra" item to the sentiment; some flat backed pearls the same color ish as the flower pots.

And there's the finished card, math errors and all. Watch the video here

Have a great Day.
