Hello my true crime friends. I'm back today to take you on a trip to South Dakota to talk about their first execution and all the weird that went along with it. And it was weird on weird on weird.
But before we talk about the crime lets talk about the coloring and the card. Today I am using an older Art Impression stamp set. I love their people stamps. They are fun to color.
The stamp set I used is called His and Hers Gardeners
You can find it here:
I used Copic Markers to color the images. I used the same colors for both of them, but in different locations. Like His pants are blue and her handkerchief is blue. I used the same colors to fill in the flowers I stamped behind her.
Her is my color pallet:
T0,T3,T5,T7 E79, E77, E74, E71, E33, E31, E30, E04, R05, R12, R02, YR000, Y38, Y19, Y15, Y02, YG67, YG17, YG05, YG11, B39, B37, B24, B23
I colored the images on Nina Classic Crest 80 lb cardstock and stamped them in Simon Says Stamp intense black ink. But any alcohol marker friendly ink will work. Most places that sell copics sell an ink as well.
I needed to do a little masking when I stamped the images. I wanted to add the boots to the grandma's feet. But I forgot to not ink up her feet with the stamp so I remasked the lady and stamped some flowers behind her to cover up the oopsie. I then lazy masked the man's legs to add the garden hose behind him.
When I was done coloring the images, I wanted to trim the panel down and descided to use the lawn fawn scalloped edge dies.
You can buy them here:
I used the third largest die to cut the panel down and used it to more visually center the stamped scene. It cut a little close to the feet, but I don't hate it.
I used Inkadinkado masking paper to create the masks. Any masking paper will work or even the sticky end of the post-it.
After the coloring and trimming, I added a little background interest to the card base with an embossing folder from my stash. It's a Cuttlebug brand called Tiny Flowers.
Any embossing folder would work. Or even a background stamp. Or nothing at all.
Here's the finished card.
Now that we've talked about the coloring, lets talk about the Crime.
Out story today is the story of a marriage, a murder, a trial and judgment, and an execution.
Thomas and Mary Egan were both from Ireland, immigrating due to the poverty caused by the potato famine. It turns out that the marriage wasn't a happy one. And after one weekend, Mary was found dead in her cellar.
This case was on e weird thing after another. To here the rest of the story, watch the video here:
Thanks for stopping by today.
