Crime and Coloring Season 2 Episode 48--The East Hill and Suncook Tragedy

Hello my true crime and crafty friends. I'm back today with another true crime story and a little card making to go along with it. This story is long so it will be a two part one.

But before we talk true crime, let's talk about the coloring. Today I am making 5 cards with one stamp set. I want to create a clean and simple style card, but it will still have layers, kind of.

I'm using the MFT Stamps Hang Out and Celebrate stamp set from my stash. for the images for all five cards. I'm not sure this stamp set is still available, but there are other sloth stamps out there.

I plan to color all the images with copic markers leaving plenty of white space around them. I did stamp and cut masks as well. I used Gina Ks Masking Magic for my masks today.

After I stamped the images, I covered them with the masks and added a little ink blending with Simon Say Stamp ink around the sloths.

I matched the ink blending to the card base I chose. I chose card bases from some cardstock in my stash I had already cut.

After the ink blending, I colored them with copic markers. I used the E50's for the sloths and a few marker blends that also matched the cardstock card bases. I used all the same colors on all of the cards.

Once the coloring was complete, I trimmed down the panels with the MFT wonky Stitched Rectangle dies.

Then I added the panels to the card bases with double sided adhesive. When I was stamping the sloths I also stamped the sentiments from the stamp set on black card stock with white ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used Brutus Monroe white fine detail embossing powder.

After the cards were assembled, I chose one of the sentiments for each card. I did stamp the belated birthday sentiment twice, because I need those the most.

I added the sentiments with foam tape from Altenew.

Once I had a sentiment on the card, I added a piece of white printer paper to the inside.

And here are the final cards.

Now for the crime. Our journey today takes us to Vermont and a story from parents nightmares. I will tell you now, that this story does involve sexual assault, a difficult crime for some to discuss.

In 1847 in the area of East Hill in the town of St. Albans, Vermont a young school teacher disappeared after she closed up the school house for the weekend and left the last of her pupils at their parents farm.

When she did not arrive at her friends home for the weekend, they began to be concerned. and then when night came, there was no more reason to deny that something was wrong. After a search by lantern, they came across the worst possible scenario.

A very dead young school teacher.
