Crime and Coloring Season 2 Episode 46-Texas Ranger and Hired Killer?

Hello my true crime friends. I'm back today with another one of those weird true crime stories from the wild west. And this one is odd. But to be fair, I'm drawn to the weird stories. But before we talk crime, let talk about the coloring.

I am making a one layer scene card using a WPlus9 stamp set from my stash. WPlus9 isn't in business any more, but this type of scene card could be used with any large sentiment stamp.

I've seen Kelly Taylor use the sentiments in the Colorado Craft Co stamps in the same way.

So, my plan is to take the large sentiment from this stamp set into a focal image by making it a wall hanging.

To add a little more to the scene, I will create a shelf with some masking magic from Gina K and add the pallet and some paint tubes to the shelf.

For a one layer scene card, you have to stamp the images you want in the front first, mask them, and them add the additional images one layer at a time, masking each image as you go.

I also masked a slightly larger area around the "sign" to create a frame.

Once I have all the images stamped and layered, I begin to create the wall. First, I ink blended a layer of green in to the whole card front.

Then I used this stamp from Simon Says Stamp to create the look of wall paper.

It didn't stamp evenly, but I don't hate it. And I'm not re doing the masking. lol. Removing the masks is always like magic to me.

Next comes the coloring. And well, it's not my favorite either. I've been experimenting with the Zig duel end pens and different papers. They don't blend as well as the Zig real brush pens. I've tried the Bristol paper and it was better than the Nina. Nina can usually take a little liquid, but not with the blending these pens need.

I ended up getting the best blend by scribbling on a stamp block and picking up the ink with the blending brush.

Once the coloring was finished, I trimmed down the panel to be 4 x 5 1/4 inches, then added it to a mid tone brown, US A2 card base.

Then I added some nuevo crystal drops to the sign and the paint pallet and paint tubes.

And here is the finished card.

Now to the crime. Our story today is about a man who was seen by his community as a church going, well dressed family man. But he had a darker side. Through his life he was tried more than once for the murder of someone, and was never jailed. He even spent a lot of hie years as a law man and Texas Ranger. After reading his story, I'm sure they retired his badge number.
